My name is Lindsay Costello and I am a Global Studies major minoring in French and Women's Studies at UCF. I received my AA degree in Studio Art, and was initially a Studio Art major when I transferred over to UCF. Ultimately I wound up switching because I felt isolated from my peers in the art major. When I starting reading up on feminism and activism I knew I had found something that "clicked" with me. Although I'm still extremely passionate about art in my free time, I'm glad I've made different choices academically.
This semester I hope to broaden my horizons a lot as a feminist. Last semester I worked to develop another feminist blog (dulce bellum inexpertis) and do volunteer work for Days for Girls. I even wrote a feminist zine. Over time, though, the majority of what I've done has been on my own. I'm looking forward to working with many other people whose ideals and goals match mine this semester.
Lindsay,
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the course. As a global studies major and active feminist working on global projects, I am sure you are going to have much to help develop our conversations.
I also hope that you will be able to use your skills as an artist for the service learning project.
Thanks for haring all your links. It looks like you are already very active in understanding worldwide feminist and women's movements.
